Final walk through today! This is it!

Big news - SOD!  If you click on the pictures you can scroll through them!

Yes okay now it looks like a house :)  We passed our final city inspection and brought in our own 3rd party inspector early this week.  Our builder then walked through the house and anything we weren't 100% happy with they tagged to fix.

I made them replace one of the tiles in my backsplash because it seemed darker than all of the other tiles around it!  They said that was perfectly fine.  I also had them replace one of my oil rubbed bronze door handles because it had a scratch on it.  We taped the house up pretty good for final texture/paint finish up.  They flushed the lines to my bathtub, replaced the mirror in my bathroom due to a scratch and redid the calking a few places on the outside.  Due to the recent rains not everything was drying as well as it should!

Either way, I can't say enough positive things about the construction manager in this part of the process.  Anything we weren't happy with was taken care of 100% and very quickly.

The cleaners are in today to do a final clean of my floors and windows and to polish cabinets.  My granite was polished yesterday.  Everything sparkles!

And then the Rain Comes!

With the flooding Austin has received the last two weekends in a row, there has been no way to regrade our yard, let alone get sod put in.  We were basically 1 day away from getting sod cut when the downpour began.  Now the ground is too wet to cut and the dirt is too soggy to regrade!  Alas!

Our builder has approval from the city to close without sod and put it in afterwards.

We are marching towards a closing date of this Friday - if everything aligns!  Our power was to be turned on last Friday but the crazy weather this weekend prevented that from happening.   Power got turned on today a few hours ago!

Our 3rd party inspection is scheduled for this afternoon.  I'm sure he's going to find more than he normally would just due to the fact that the power was just turned on so nothing has been able to be tested yet.  Our AC unit hasn't been started up yet and none of the appliances have been tested.  So we'll see how it goes. We will have a lot of 'we know about that' on the list.

Our walk through with the builder is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.  He's hoping to get a lot of our list knocked out in the next 2 days.

Right now, we found a nick in one of the cabinets so a drawer will be replaced, we have a fan not working in one of the bathrooms and a light not working outside.  The electrical contractor was there when we left so hopefully those will be fixed in a short order.
